Capcom Is 'Considering' How to Make New Mega Man Games on an 'Ongoing Basis'
Released Jul. 23rd, 2024

Capcom has confirmed Mega Man remains one of its "highly valued IPs" and that it is "considering how to create games for it on an ongoing basis."

Capcom shared this update for the beloved franchise during a Q&A for its 45th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders, and while nothing concrete was revealed, it's always great to know it still wants to continue its legacy.

A shareholder asked Capcom what its plans were for the Mega Man series, and Capcom replied by saying, "Mega Man is one of our highly-valued IPs and we are considering how to create games for it on an ongoing basis."

Mega Man was first released on the NES in 1987 and has since had over 50 entries and has sold over 41 million copies as of October 2023. Mega Man 11 was the last mainline entry and it was released on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC in 2018.

In our Mega Man 11 review, we said, "It's not revolutionary, but Mega Man 11 feels almost like a classic Mega Man game, and is a good foundation for the next 10 games."

There have been Mega Man collections released since then, including the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, but we are still waiting for the next big adventure for the Blue Bomber.
