After a long-fought legal battle, the Fallout Online project was effectively killed when publisher Interplay's rights to the game were acquired by Bethesda -- a future Fallout MMO project might be developed by Bethesda at another time, but it would not be based on the work done for this title. Exploration of the wasteland continues, however, in standard non-MMO entries into the epic RPG franchise.
