Overview
God of War Laufey brings Faye to the front of the series after the funeral that opens God of War (2018). Death should have been the end, but Faye wakes in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods and the place where all magic is said to return. The plans she left behind to protect Kratos and Atreus are suddenly at risk, forcing her to fight for a way back before forces from across mythology can turn that sacrifice against the family she tried to save.
The Everywhen is not a quiet resting place. It is a strange, magic-soaked realm where gods, creatures, and powers from different mythologies collide, compete, and survive by their own rules. Faye has to uncover why the natural flow of magic has been disrupted and whether the realm is a paradise, a prison, or something more dangerous. Early details point to Sekhmet and Begtse as hostile divine figures she will face, while new companions Phranque and Rue join her shortly after she awakens.
Faye enters this story as the Golden Hand of the Jotnar, a warrior powerful enough to stand against Thor and the former bearer of the Leviathan Axe. Santa Monica Studio is positioning her combat as familiar to modern God of War players while bringing back faster, more aerial, Greek-era energy. Her fighting style is built around speed, control, momentum, and soul magic, including the ability to strike an enemy with her golden palm, tear their soul loose, and use that opening to extend combos or turn the battlefield in her favor.
The game is the next mainline God of War entry from Santa Monica Studio and shifts the playable spotlight away from Kratos to explore Faye's humanity, flaws, power, and legacy. Deborah Ann Woll reprises Faye, with Jack Quaid as Phranque and Perlina Lau as Rue. God of War Laufey is currently announced for PlayStation 5 with no final release date yet.
